Introduction

Lancaster University Leipzig’s foundation programme is a preparatory step that many school graduates may want to or must complete to be eligible for our undergraduate programmes. Considering its global outreach, the university is keen to ensure that regardless of the country of origin, experience, or completed school curriculum students have equal chances to study at Lancaster University Leipzig.

Lancaster University Leipzig offers own taught foundation programmes coupled with the undergraduate degree of your choice. A foundation programme is addressed to students who:

Do not meet our bachelor’s degree entry requirements
Completed a school curriculum that is insufficient for bachelor’s degree entry
Require extra preparation to master the academic rigors of an undergraduate study
Are unsure about their study choice and want to explore the academic life without committing long-term

The educational aims of the foundation programme are to:

develop students’ fundamental knowledge and understanding of the key elements of their interest field
consolidate in students a broad range of transferable academic literacy, as well as research and analytical skills, to succeed at undergraduate study level
ensure that students have attained the required level of academic English language proficiency to cope with the rigors of undergraduate study
prepare students to operate effectively and autonomously within the framework of undergraduate education

Developed for students who academically meet the degree entry requirements, but whose English level is below the degree requirement.

Programme overview:

The programme will cover a range of topics to allow for a range of lexical and grammatical input and a variety of tasks. Wherever possible, students’ prospective degree programmes (Computer Science and/or Business) will be taken into account, and related subject matter will be incorporated into the syllabus.

This includes:

Social media and cyberculture
Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and (un)employment
Globalisation
Consumer behaviour and advertising
Technology and marketing
Big Data
Online education
Video games and young people
Logistics and supply chain management
Digital finance and accounting

The successful completion of the programme allows progression to any bachelor’s degree offered in the October Intake.

Scholarships for foundation

We offer early acceptance scholarships for students starting with foundation. Applicants who submit their application and meet the conditions by the specified date may reduce their programme fee by several thousand euros.
