Leipzig Symposium on Intelligent Systems

LEISYS 2026 brings together national and international researchers, industry professionals, and students to discuss recent advances in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and intelligent systems. Since 2021, LEISYS has been providing an annual platform for presenting current research, exploring emerging technologies, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.

The program includes keynote lectures, technical presentations, a public panel discussion, and opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange. As a whole, LEISYS connects academia, industry, and public-sector organizations, covering both foundational research and practical applications of intelligent systems.

OAuth Security Workshop

Lancaster University Leipzig hosted the OAuth Security Workshop 2026 here in Leipzig.

The workshop focuses on identity standards like OAuth and OpenID Connect, which are the core security components of today’s Internet. What makes this series particularly valuable is its unique mix of perspectives, spanning current deployments, emerging research, and the future direction of these technologies.

Wissenschaftskino Leipzig

Wissenschaftskino Leipzig is a joint event series organised by Leipzig’s scientific institutions, the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum and the Knowledge Policy Unit for the City of Leipzig.

In cooperation with Lancaster University Leipzig, this edition featured a screening of The Big Short, which examines the 2008 financial crisis and the collapse of the US housing market. Following the screening, Dr Vidhya Unnikrishnan and Dr Stefan Kupfer joined a discussion titled “Boom and Bust – are financial crises part of the system?”, exploring the mechanisms behind financial bubbles and market crashes and offering insights into the functioning of modern financial systems. The event brought together a wide audience, placing academic research in dialogue with the public.

The LEISYS symposium on intelligent systems has been established in 2021 by Dr Sven Linker and JProf Dr Thomas Schmid in order to bring together researchers and practioniers from various fields of artificial intelligence research. Since then, it has become an annual event, growing continuously and attracting AI experts from all around the world.
