The Lancaster Award Leipzig celebrates your commitment to personal and professional growth. It brings together your extra-curricular achievements in one recognised award, helping you showcase the skills employers value most.
Successful participants will receive a badge for their LinkedIn profile. Your achievement will also be recorded on your Diploma Supplement – the official document issued alongside your degree that highlights recognised academic and personal achievements.
The Lancaster Award Leipzig is designed to be flexible, allowing you to tailor it to your interests throughout your degree. Whether you are an undergraduate or postgraduate student, you can complete the Award alongside your studies.
To achieve the Award, you must complete activities across three out of four Award categories. Each activity is worth a set number of points, and you will need to meet the minimum requirement in each category while achieving at least 75 points overall.

Getting involved in campus life is one of the best ways to develop the transferable skills employers look for. Whether you are joining or leading a student society, supporting new students or representing your course, these experiences help you build confidence, expand your network and make a meaningful contribution to the Lancaster University Leipzig community.
You can earn 10 points for each eligible campus activity.

Work experience is a great way to develop professional skills, gain practical experience and strengthen your CV. Eligible work experience can include full-time or part-time employment, internships, placements and other recognised professional experiences.
We recognise that not all students are able to take on paid employment, for example because of visa restrictions or other commitments. There are still plenty of ways to develop your professional skills and gain valuable experience. Explore the opportunities available through the SAP Learning Hub, as well as other professional development activities offered by the University.

Make a difference while developing skills that can benefit you personally and professionally. Volunteering is a great way to contribute to your community, meet new people and gain valuable experience alongside your studies.
Whether you’re volunteering in Leipzig, your home country or internationally, there are many ways to get involved. Opportunities can range from supporting university initiatives and local charities to working with community organisations and environmental projects.

Each eligible volunteering experience is worth 15 points and must involve a minimum of 10 hours.

Invest in yourself and build the skills that will support you throughout your studies and beyond. The University offers a wide range of workshops, courses and extracurricular learning opportunities designed to help you develop both academic and professional skills.
You could earn points by taking part in activities such as:
Use this category to broaden your horizons, explore something new and develop skills beyond your degree. With a maximum of 25 points available, choose the opportunities that interest you and support your personal and professional development.
Join an Award Information Session once per term to find out how the Award works, what activities count and how to make the most of it.
Register in the Award Information Sessions, the ASK sessions or a Career Consultation for the Lancaster Award Leipzig and start planning how you will earn your points.
Complete eligible activities and collect at least 75 points across a minimum of three different Award categories.
As part of the Award, you will also need to complete CV360, Interview360 and the Type Dynamics Indicator questionnaire to develop and showcase your employability skills. You can access these pages by using you LU university email address.
Once you have completed the requirements, submit your Award through Moodle by one of the following deadlines:

No. The Lancaster Award Leipzig recognises activities and experiences you undertake from the start of your degree at LU Leipzig onwards.
Not necessarily. It depends on the purpose of the activity.
If you are carrying out unpaid activities to support others or contribute to the community – for example, fundraising for a charity or helping at a local event – this would generally count as volunteering.
If you undertake an unpaid activity primarily to gain professional experience, explore a sector or develop your own skills, it would be considered work experience. It can still contribute towards your Award points.
Yes, in some cases. If your degree programme includes an industry or client-based project with an external organisation, this can count as work experience.
The Study Abroad programme itself does not automatically earn points towards the Lancaster Award Leipzig.
However, you can earn points for additional activities you undertake while abroad. These might include participating in a Global Summer School, getting involved in campus events whilst being on study abroad, acting as a student ambassador or taking part in other activities that contribute to the student experience.
No. You need to meet the minimum requirements for each of the required categories. Points earned in one category cannot be transferred to make up for a shortfall in another.
That is fine. You can choose to leave the Award at any point simply by deciding not to submit your completed Award.
If you do not submit the required evidence and meet the completion requirements, you will not receive the LinkedIn badge or have the achievement recorded on your Diploma Supplement.
