Lancaster University Leipzig will be running an intensive B1 German course from 31 August to 2 October 2026. Many thanks to those who have already registered.

There are still places available. If you are interested, you can enrol below. For smooth planning, we would appreciate if you could do so by 1 July 2026.

The B1 course, like all our German language courses, prepares students for official German language examinations, such as Goethe Zertifikat and Telc, which are accepted worldwide by universities and organizations and follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). All our teachers are native German speakers with university degrees, formal teaching qualifications, and many years’ worth of experience in teaching German as a foreign language across all levels.

The B1 course covers the whole range of required topics and structures, but also demands additional independent work from participants in order to complete the respective CEFR level. Further support and tutorials will be provided to achieve this. The course fee is 750 Euros, which includes 100 teaching units over 5 weeks (1 unit = 50 minutes; 20 units per week; 4 units per day) as well as a copy of the course handbook. The course fee breaks down to the very competitive rate of 7.50 Euros per teaching unit.

Please note that the intensive B1 German course will be taking place on campus and in person.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Barbara Osnowski (Tutor of German: b.osnowski@lancaster.ac.uk) or Dr Philipp Hunnekuhl (Subject Lead Skills & Languages: p.hunnekuhl@lancaster.ac.uk).
