Leipzig, 23 October 2025 – Lancaster University Leipzig proudly marked its third Graduation Ceremony today, celebrating the achievements of 132 graduates from its growing community. Students from both Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in the Business and Computer Science departments crossed the stage to receive their degrees and the traditional red rose, in a day filled with pride, joy, and international spirit.
The ceremony was once again held in the historic St Nicholas Church, located just metres from the university’s campus in the heart of Leipzig. The majestic setting, enhanced by the resonant tones of the church’s organ – famously played by Johann Sebastian Bach – provided an atmosphere of dignity and celebration.
Graduates were joined by family members who had travelled from across the globe to witness this significant milestone. The event served not only as a recognition of academic excellence, but also as a celebration of the determination, resilience, and ambition of the university’s diverse student body.
The ceremony was hosted by Professor Simon Guy, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Lancaster University, who travelled from the United Kingdom to mark the occasion. Alongside him: Lancaster University Leipzig’s Interim Academic Dean, Dr Benjamin Hammer, and Campus Director, Dr Elisabeth Grindel-Denby. The university was also honoured to welcome a representative of the city of Leipzig, Dr Torsten Loschke, as guest speaker. In his address, the Head of Knowledge Policy Unit congratulated the graduates on their achievements, highlighting their potential to make meaningful contributions to their future professions and to society as a whole.
As Lancaster University Leipzig continues to grow, the scale and spirit of its Graduation Ceremony reflect the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and to preparing students for bright, impactful careers.
