Dr Schmitz wrote a book on Cyber Security

13 May 2025

From now on, a book by our Computer Science lecturer, Dr Guido Schmitz, fills our library: “Cyber Security Foundations” is an introductory textbook that provides a broad overview of technical and human-centred aspects of cyber security.

This newly added textbook offers an accessible introduction to the broad field of cyber security, covering both technical and human-centred dimensions. With topics ranging from cryptography and network security to cybercrime, privacy, and security management, the book is designed to support a wide range of readers.

Primarily aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students studying cyber security-related modules, Cyber Security Foundations also serves as a valuable resource for professionals and individuals outside academia seeking to enhance their understanding of this critical and rapidly evolving field.

Dr Schmitz’s work reflects Lancaster University Leipzig’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and to providing students and staff with up-to-date resources that bridge theoretical knowledge and real-world application.
