Cost of living

Plan your Leipzig budget and make the most of student life

Affordable student city

Leipzig offers a cheaper alternative to other major German cities such as Berlin, Munich, or Frankfurt without having to miss out on any of the buzz or culture.

There are plenty of ways in which the city caters to student budgets. Many shops and event venues offer student discounts. At Lancaster University Leipzig, you also benefit from having a student travel pass included into your fee payments, saving you a lot of money whilst keeping you mobile throughout the region.

As well as your tuition, you need to budget for monthly expenditure including rent, bills and food. You may also need to budget for one-off expenses related to your course, such as textbooks or equipment.
