Fees and Scholarships

Tuition Fees 2022/2023

For undergraduate students Lancaster University Leipzig has two different types of tuition:

EU / UK students pay €9,450

and non-EU students €15,750 per year.

Please note: We offer student finance for applicants from the EU / EEA area through our partner CHANCEN eG.

At the graduate level Lancaster University Leipzig has one type of tuition for EU and non-EU students.

Additional fees:

Upon arrival to Germany, all students are required to:

  • pay for their course materials
  • purchase the local transportation ticket (MDV):

               Annual ticket costs:

               For students studying: January-September: €322,50*

               For students studying: October-September: €430*

During orientation week you will receive a student pass which will also be your travel pass. The compulsory amount of €322,50 or €430 will be invoiced by LU Leipzig. It is mandatory to have a local transportation ticket and it is not possible to opt out.

Lancaster University Leipzig Scholarships and Discounts - Academic Year 2022/2023


Lancaster University offers the following scholarships for prospective students. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding your availability.

Undergraduate level

Merit Scholarships - BSc degree entry

Applicants for direct entry (First Year) with the following academic performance in their final high school degree (A-Level, IB, GSCE or equivalent) are eligible for the following scholarships:

€1,000 in each year of subsequent study
A*AA (IB 39) €2,000 in the first year of study

Your application will automatically be considered for a scholarship as soon as you submit your online application form with all required documents.

Lancaster Leipzig Sanctuary Scholarship

Ukrainian nationals who apply for October 2022 and January 2023 intake are now eligible for domestic fees throughout the duration of their studies.

The fee reduction (of approx. EUR 6,300 per year) can be also combined with other awarded scholarships (more information upon submitting an application Lancaster University Leipzig - Apply Today (lancasterleipzig.de)) and is applicable to Foundation and Bachelor degree entry applications.

Benefits for First-degree Relatives

Lancaster University Leipzig offers “Family Scholarships” for siblings, spouses or children/parents studying concurrently at Lancaster University Leipzig. This is an automatic €1,000 reduction of the yearly tuition for each first-degree family member.

It is not possible to combine multiple scholarships. The scholarships scheme are subject to change by the university at any time.
