Student Assistant in Student Services Department

The Lancaster University Leipzig campus offers a range of Lancaster University (LU) degree programmes, with the university committed to providing the same academic quality and fully rounded student experience as in the UK. The Student Assistant will be crucial in assisting the Student Services Team in administrative support for the Campus.

Student Assistant Responsibilities:

Academic Services

Perform administrative tasks:

  • assistance in monitoring of marking deadlines & communicating with lecturers
  • assistance in inputting of marks and providing regular updates on individual student progress
  • assistance in developing timetable for Foundation Programme Exams
  • assistance in updating Exam Guidelines
  • assisting in setting up exams in Moodle
  • assisting in invigilating of exams
  • assist in all aspects relating to exam marking and moderation tasks (monitoring of deadlines, gathering information for committee meetings, resit process etc.)
  • assistance in managing student academic appeals
  • assistance in maintaining accuracy of student and academic data (student records, updating module handbooks etc.)

Other Tasks

  • attendance at student social events and welcome week events if needed
  • populating spreadsheets
  • translation of documents (German-English, English-German)

Your Profile:

Interested applicants will be able to demonstrate:


  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills (mother tongue or bilingual proficiency).
  • Proven ability as a “team player” who can contribute to the development of a highly effective team.
  • Well-developed organizational skills and the ability to work precisely and detail-orientedComfortable working to competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-past environment.
  • Flexible attitude to work including a willingness to work weekends and evenings in support of student activities.
  • Strong IT skills (Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications)
  • Solution-focused with a “can do” mentality and problem-solving ability.


  • Strong verbal and written German communication skills (mother tongue or bilingual proficiency) and/or other languages.
